Notification of staying in the Kingdom for more than 90 days

An alien who has been granted permission to temporarily reside in the Kingdom, if staying in the Kingdom for more than 90 days, that alien has a duty to report his/her residence to an Immigration Bureau officer every 90 days. If there is an Immigration Office in any area, he/she may report to the officer at that office. This is in accordance with Section 37(5) of the Immigration Act B.E. 2522.

How to report

1. Aliens notify in person

2. An alien assigns another person to deliver a document to notify.

3. Aliens may receive a notification letter by registered mail.

Note ** 

Aliens can report their residence before 15 days or after 7 days from the due date. If the deadline is exceeded or the notification date is exceeded, aliens must report themselves in person to proceed with the fine comparison.

**In the case of exceeding the residence notification deadline, foreigners who report themselves will be subject to a fine of 2,000 baht.

**In the case that an alien leaves the country before the next appointment, upon returning to the Kingdom, they must report their next residence after 90 days from the date of their last entry into the Kingdom.

Notification location

 Foreigners residing in Uttaradit Province can report their residence at Uttaradit Immigration.

1. In the case of foreigners residing in Bangkok, they must notify in person or assign someone else to submit the letter on their behalf at the Residence Notification Unit, Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary, 5 December 2007, Building B (2nd floor, south side), Chaeng Watthana Road, Thung Song Hong Subdistrict, Lak Si District, Bangkok   (click to see location).

4. For provinces, notify at every immigration checkpoint according to the area where the alien resides.

Procedures when notifying by registered mail

1. Copy of passport photo page, last entry date and last permission to stay in Thailand.

2. Copy of TM.6 departure card, front and back (TM.6).  See sample TM.6 card.

3. Notification of staying over 90 days (in the case of having already notified of staying over 90 days)  See a sample notification.

4. Fill in the details in Form TM. 47 and sign your name.  See the example.

5. An envelope with a 10-baht stamp addressed to an alien so that the officer can send the lower part of the TM.47 form when receiving the notification of staying over 90 days, along with the TM.47 form to use to notify the next time of staying over 90 days.

6. Put the documents in items 1-5 in an envelope and send them by registered mail 15 days before the due date (according to the appointment slip). The alien must keep the registration document by addressing the envelope to the Immigration Checkpoint in the area where the alien resides.

Notification of residence in the case of an alien staying over 90 days is not a request to stay in the Kingdom.
Any alien who stays over 90 days and does not notify an official of his residence or does so later than the prescribed time limit must report in person and pay a fine of 2,000 baht. Or if an alien is arrested in any case, a fine of 5,000 baht must be paid.
When an alien leaves the Kingdom, upon returning, the 90-day period must be counted again in every case.
